Welcome back! Two days down. How's it going?
We hope you're starting to see something exciting in you relationship.
Day Three. We are thrilled that you have joined us again today. How have the first two days gone?
Having fun, yet? Are you enjoying reconnecting with your spouse again? We certainly hope so!
As you begin day three, we want to encourage you to think about your relationship with your spouse. The bible encourages us view our marital relationships are partnerships, with each member sharing in the responsibilities of the marriage. But where we find an equality as man and woman, we also find unique roles for the husband and wife. Today, we want to consider the role of the husband as one who is called to love his wife with a love like Jesus; a sacrificial love.
Day Three's Scripture Readings
- Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Submission is a hard topic for most of us. But v.21 isn't about one being greater or lesser. V.21 is all about a mutual partnership; the husband and the wife working together. How do you as husband and wife work together in submission before the Lord?
- Ephesians 5:21-33, speaks to the relationship between a husband and a wife. Husbands are to love their wives, sacrificially. What does it look like for a husband to love his wife, sacrificially?
- In todays Song of Solomon reading, the wife pours her heart out for her lover. What would it look like for you, as the wife, to pour out your heart to your husband? Take some time during this 8 day experience to write a love letter to your husband.
A Prayer for Both of You
Heaven Father, You have created a special partnership between a husband and a wife. Thank you for making us equal, sharing in the highs and low, joys and pains, sadness and celebration. Father, as our intimate creator, create in us a passion to love each other sacrificially. In jesus name, Amen.
Remember, you can add to this prayer time by praying for the needs and asks
that you have for your relationship and family.
Now Go and Be Together
You're doing great. 3 days in and you're still at it.
There are many ways for us to express love for our spouse. Words, gifts, acts of service, time, and physical touch are all ways with which we communicate love. As you spend your time together now, practice one or more of these expressions of love.
Hi we're Jay & Amy, and we've been married for 19 years and are super blessed to be busy raising our 5 kids; 4 boys and 1 girl! We juggle the adventures of life and ministry and share what we are learning as it relates to marriage, family, raising kids, serving in the church, and chasing after Jesus. Raising a family is hard work, especially in today's culture. But our hope is to encourage you and your family, as we live for the glory of God.
